Flight Controls
The Flight Control System is composed by the following parts:
- A couple of Yokes (1 for Captain and another for First Officer)
- A couple of Pedals (1 for Captain and another for First Officer)
- A Trim Wheel
- TQ can be considered as Flight Control part since it performs function as well as “Parking Brake”, “Speed Brake”, “Thrust Control” and “Flaps” control, but being a very important part of the simulator it is described in Throttle Quadrant Section
YOKES:
As mentioned above, the main airplane control function will be performed by the YOKES.
For my flight deck I was interested to use 2 CH Yokes coupled mechanically in order to move in synchronization the Captain and Co-Pilot’s column.
My idea was based on the Juan’s Project … (see http://users.skynet.be/jcordon/cockpit/index.htm )
At moment I have a USB Yoke and a JOY port Yoke that are “For Sale“.
Around mid of December 2009, I visited the “Luchvaart Hobby Shop” ( www.aviationmegastore.com ) and I have been impressed from the excellent quality of ACE (www.737yoke.com ) devices. So, I’m very interested to buy these very expensive, but wonderful units.
They are a MUST for my 737 Home-Cockpit.
For my birthday (15 of April, 2010) I bought a couple of ACE 737 Yoke by Aviation Mega Store.
I found several issues with these yoke
- Error during shipping (2 Captain Yokes, instead of 1 Capt and 1 First Officer)
- Clipboard broken
- Clipboard substituted with checking list missing
- Connector of F/O Clipboard not matching perfectly with Yoke
- No feedback to my email sent to ACE in Canada
Issues 1,2,3,4 have been solved … anyway Is not acceptable to pay 2900€ and to have these problems !!!
However, the quality is amazing, and shipment box is very good
Here below some picture about 737 ACE Yokes
PEDALS:
My idea is to have a couple of CH Pedals and to modify it in order to have a similar 737 pedals.
I bought another CH Pedal but unfortunately it was Gameport and not USB …
I tried to adapt a Opencockpit USB Axes Card in order to conver analog gameport in USB but the device not worked correctly …
So I decided to have professional Rudder Pedals and I bought Revolution Simproducts Rudder Pedal KIT.
The Kit has been sent by Eren in few days from the order. The quality, service, and shipment was fantastic. Now when I will have free time I will build it.
Here Below a couple of Rudder Pedals Kit images
During the summer 2011 I assembled the Rudder Pedals Kit … and the thanks to my friend Arnaldo we have calibrated the device.
Here below some pictures:
At this stage the rudder is present only on Captain side.
STEERING WHEEL:
A Boeing Steering Wheel at first stage was not foreseen …
Since, I want to faithfully reproduce the flightdeck like the real one 737NG, I decided at moment to equip my Cockpit with a Steering Mechanism (only Captain side) interfaced with a Leobonar Joystick Card
